Pop Rules says "Pop becomes Underground the moment it acknowledges its position as Pop. Underground becomes Pop the moment it acknowledges its position as Underground". This Antwerp pop lover loves not only pop. He praises music as his inspiration, motivation and strength. “To live without my music would be impossible to do in this world of troubles my music pulls me through”
He breathes fashion without attitude, he inhales parties, he plays with words, words with meaning. "Don't drop bombs, play pop". He truly is "Sage comme une image"
The Brussels duo Joy Wellboy is Joy Adegoke, a song writer and - we cite - an "untrustworthy maniac with a porcelain heart" and Wim Janssens, producer, arranger and in Joy's words "a stubborn asshole". Not that they don't get along, quite the contrary. The live together in the heart of Brussels. On the question "are you a couple?" the reply is vague "depends on the weather". Open for interpretation.
The sound of Joy Wellboy can said as "elementary beats and basslines, in combination with Joy's particular voice".
Joy already worked with Buscemi and Mark Knight before she met Wim Janssens and founded Joy Wellboy. De single "Flush me" appeared several times on different radio channels and became a hit on vimeo.com. A video clip definitely to be discovered. The release of the second single is in January, the debut album "Let's make love before we die" should be in store in March.
Joe Goddard and Alexis Taylor met in their early teens at Elliott School in Putney and are the core duo of Hot Chip ever since. That's 18 years ago when listening to the Beatles, the Kinks, Prince and yep, Stevie Wonder.
Their last album was "One Life Stand". Gorgeous ballads, candid style, future house classics, bass-line Detroit and the surprising EuroDance track "I feel better". Primitive and rough were inspirations, bringing back the original spirit of dance music. Electronics that feel human, not slick, airbrushed and perfect.
Alexis is obsessed with music. Music for him is a desperate passion. A collector. In 2008 he experimented on a solo album "Rubbed Out" and recently he collaborated with Justus Kohnke for the release of a Kitsune compilation. Click here for more on that. Nochexxx, Fingers Inc, NDF, Justine and the Victorian Punks, Prince, Donna Summer, Paul McCartney and Wings, Theo Parrish, the Style Council, Boy Better Know are some of the bands Alexis puts in his dj set.
Hear ye hear ye young children! For sixsixsixmas comes early this year.
Infernal in name, divine in nature, Sixsixsixties fills your hearts nostalgic newschool style. A self declared DFA whore and the biggest Larry Levan fanboy this side of the Schelde, Sixsixsixties heats up the floor with discobeats, arpeggios, nasty hi-hats and four letter words I can not say.
As a mobile dj Sixsixsixties will make you wonder whether you're in New York circa 1981, some cheezy Italian beach discotheque grooving to Moroder's rolling basslines or at Oslo's hippest cosmic club in the year 2011. Anyway, what are words worth? Come out and have a dance!
The works of Rémi show low-tech installation consisting of daily objects and basic construction materials. The sculptured objects look however like spaceships, high-tech sound, underwater transmitters, motorized turbines or even robots.
Humoristic yet confronting, the set up sends back to the mythological way of thinking about science en lost utopia. He sees them as intermediate prototypes, proud of progress but at the same time revealing it's futility and uselessness.
