DeLorean - a futuristic classic car

"Why do you post stuff about cars on your blog?", we got. Actually, we like the aesthetics / the design of cars, mainly vintage cars, and that's it. So here we go for another favourite : the DeLorean (DMC = DeLorean Motor Company). At the end of 70s the president of Pontiac - John DeLorean - decided to launch this brand. Production was only from 1981 to 1982 because of financial issues. About 8500 were built. Many know the model of it's appearance in the film "Back to the Future". From the old cars and old parts, a new CEO has risen and recently decided to rebuild the cars to run on electricity.

36 have been made between 1928 and 1932. The last car that Ferdinand Porsche designed for Mercedes before starting his own company. As they were meant to participate in races, only 4 or 5 originals still exist today.

Two years ago we showed the film "Paris is Burning" at our parties, a 1990 movie on the ball culture of New York. We didn't dig into it yet here's an explanation and a how to :

Vogue, which was originally inspired by Vogue magazine, is the art form of moving your body to the music through model poses. These poses become incorporated with angular, linear, and rigid arm, leg, and body movements.

How to?

Take a deep breath and perform some stretching exercises. Vogueing requires quick jerking movements and is best practiced with a limber body. Make sure you have a large open space to practice in.
Start with arm movements. Your arms are usually the most expressive part of your body in this type of dancing. Hold both your arms out to your sides and then quickly jerk one arm inward bending at the elbow. Point your arm toward your face and make a smiling or menacing face. This is a move that shows you are the center of attention. Moves like this are very popular in vogueing clubs and battles.
During your routine, stop in a "diva" pose. This means stopping and being completely still in a high fashion pose such as hands on the hips and one foot forward or hands on the lower buttocks while the head is turned to the side.
Spin in a circle and then sit on the ground with one leg bent at the knee toward your buttocks. This is a diva move and is used frequently in vogue dance. This move will take practice until your spin looks graceful and controlled.
The biggest part of vogue dancing is the strut. Walk as if you are mimicking a fashion model's walk. This walk shows you have the attitude to pull off vogue dance style. Most vogue dancers start off with a dramatic walk.

A while ago I was confronted to what seemed an error in the legislation. Today to my surprise, someone of the Finance department proudly confirm this error.

It concerns the recent added 21% tax on notary work. I can image very little people are interested in this topic yet it does impact everyone who bought an appartment, studio, garage and what more in the period October to December 2011 and as I had some reactions of people being in that situation, I do post this result.

On 28/12 the government decides that the tax needs to be added from 1/1 on (if you understand Dutch, I highlighted it in the letter below). Of course nobody knew that in such short 3 day notice and didn't take that into account. We're not talking a couple of euros but hundreds or even thousands.

You would expect them to cleverly take into account that people don't buy a property just like that and that it takes months. Plus that at the moment of payment those buyers will get everything they have out of their drawers to be able to pay as much in cash as possible. But no, even though many complaints of notary studies and buyers, they didn't adapt the law.

I have nothing against paying taxes and supporting the current crisis yet there needs to be a transition period for this type of actions. I know people who are now in serious difficulties because of this. If this was a matter of more voters (as was the case of the fiscal discount on loans), it would have been a totally different issue yet as it concerns less voters, they just don't give a shit and send this ridiculous answer to my question if a transition period had been considered.

Did you know the name "Teddy Bear" comes from former US president Theodore Roosevelt? His nickname was Teddy.

A political cartoon appeared in the Washington Post in 1902 with "Teddy" refusing to shoot a bear on a hunting trip. Candy seller Morris Michtom created a little stuffed bear with his wife Rose and put it in his shop window with a sign "Teddy's bear", after receiving permission from the president to use his name. The toys were an immediate success. At the same time the Steiff firm in Germany, unaware of Michtoms's bear, produced a stuffed bear too. By 1906 other manufacturers joined in the craze for "Roosevelt Bears" and Roosevelt even used one as a mascot in his bid for re-election.
