Julien Roure aka Jules Julien, lives and works in Paris. (1975, Bagnols/Cèze, France) A squirrel revolver, a cobweb hairstyle surrounding a cubiste face. Whether subtile or grotesque, the contrast seen in the work of Julien Roure questions the reality of the world that surrounds him. By tweaking or associating figures and familiar objects he presents a universe where the symbol is connected to an anecdote or where strangeness hides behind a flamboyant palet of colours. The so called smoothness of his images, precisely drawn and vectorised, gives shape to far more complex ideas. Un underground world where superheros would be called Eros and Thanatos and where tensions would give birth to dream characters that would be as seducing as they would be poisonous.
